During the month of August, Tyler Pearson raised more money than incumbent Sen. Jason Rapert again. Pearson has out-raised Rapert in five of the last six months. Despite a huge influx of money from PACs and other special interests to Rapert’s committee, Pearson’s grassroots supporters bested them yet again. Pearson raised over $31,000, and Rapert raised over $30,000.
“My supporters know I will put their priorities first and not be beholden to special interest money,” Pearson said. “Jason Rapert is at the beck and call of special interests. That’s why he introduced a bill to allow oil pipeline companies to seize homes via eminent domain, and voted for tax cuts for the wealthy but against funding our schools.”
“Last month Rapert held a $1000-ticket luncheon and invited lobbyists and his Tea Party colleagues. He raised $13,000 from PACs alone,” Pearson said. “Our polling shows that Rapert has a 50% negative job approval in his district, and his lack of monetary support from everyday folks in his district validates our polling.”
“Over 650 supporters have given to my campaign because they know I will fight for them to bring good-paying jobs to central Arkansas, expand access to pre-K education, protect the Private Option, and keep college tuition low,” Pearson said.
