LITTLE ROCK CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU

The mention of the Little Rock Advertising and Promotion Commission reminds me that I've been meaning to pass along more details about the 10-day observance its Convention and Visitors Bureau plans for the 10th anniversary of the Clinton Library opening Nov. 9-18.

The LRCVB claims $2.5 billion in economic development from the library, park, Clinton School of Public Service. It's certainly changed the neighborhood for the better — a major catalyst for hotels, restaurants, shops and the visitors who use them. One measure is the 64.5 percent increase in hotel and restaurant tax revenue over the last 10 years.

There's a website, naturally. But it's not loaded just yet.

Some of the attractions and events:

OLD STATE HOUSE MUSEUM: Ongoing Clinton exhibit, an exhibit on Arkansas women, an exhibit on first families.

BUTLER CENTER: Ongoing exhibit of gubernatorial memorabilia.

ARKANSAS ARTS CENTER: An exhibit of George Fisher's political cartoons from Nov. 8-23.

CLINTON SCHOOL: On Nov. 11, Little Rock Nine member Ernest Green will speak on the 100th birthday of Daisy Bates.

GOVERNOR'S MANSION: A Clinton-themed tour of the mansion, by appointment, fem Nov. 14-18.

MUSEUM OF DISCOVERY: Nov. 15, "Science of the Saxophone: Good Vibrations." Maybe Arsenio Hall could be persuaded to drop by.

RON ROBINSON THEATER: No schedule yet, but Clinton-related movies will be shown. (Surely not The Clinton Chronicles. Although it's a period piece of its own.)

CLINTON LIBRARY: Among others, the Dale Chihuly Glass Exhibit will continue until Jan. 15.

More to come on several days of events at the library itself. It's certain to include celebrity visitors in addition to the former and perhaps future presidents, Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Some video from the rain-soaked opening.
