AARP
is out with more politicall poll results, these  focusing on views of people 50 and older on the governor’s race and related political issues.

Here, the poll of some 1,200 people in late June and early July gave Mike Ross a 46-44 edge (counting leans and definites together) over Asa Hutchinson, with 10 percent undecided. Again, the poll didn’t ask about Green and Libertarian candidates. This poll, unlike several others, shows Ross, the Democrat, with a strong lead among women over Republican Hutchinson. That’s more typical given Democratic positions on issues important to women.

Among other questions in the poll:

* A plurality supported the so-called private option Medicaid expansion under Obamacare (a word not used in the question).

* A strong majority would prefer that  public support pay for at-home care rather than nursing homes.

* President Obama’s disapproval rating is high, but not as high as that of Congress.

* These voters are worried about finances. Half have postponed or will postpone retirement.

An earlier AARP released showed Sen. Mark Pryor with a narrow lead over challenger Tom Cotton in this age group.
