Fair Park neighborhood presses LR board to rescind gas station vote

The Fair Park residents association isn't ready to call it quits on the 6-5 vote last week by the Little Rock City Board to allow a 20-pump Murphy Oil gas station and convenience store at 12th and University, at the foot of the University Park neighborhood and over the objections of multiple neighborhood groups, including from Fair Park, and the city planning staff.

In an email today, the group said the Board still could overturn the vote if one of the prevailing six — Mayor Mark Stodola and Directors Stacy Hurst, Lance Hines, Dean Kumpuris, Brad Cazort and Gene Fortson — would rescind his or her vote at the next scheduled board meeting (Tuesday afternoon).

In distributing phone and email contact information for all six, the Fair Park email said:

Mayor Stodola is running for re-election for Mayor. Ask him to show leadership and rescind his vote.

Director Hurst is running for the Arkansas House of Representatives District 35. Her campaign slogan is “People before Politics.” Ask her to show she is with the people and rescind her vote.

Director Hines is running for re-election to Ward 5. Ask him to show leadership and rescind his vote.
