* LOTTERY SECURITY: The Arkansas Lottery today announced that Daryl Backes, former security chief for the Missouri Lottery, had gone to work as Arkansas Lottery security director. Previous director Lance Huey retired. Backes, 57, has a degree in criminal justice and six years experience with Jefferson City police before going to work for the Missouri lottery. He became its security manager in 2010.

Below is a photo provided to Forbidden Hillcrest Steve O’Connell. It seems a so-called Google car with camera panning for images for the website’s street view mapping came to grief at Cantrell and Tyler. The correspondent said the car had been going the wrong way on Tyler before making a blind turn into the ensuing wreck on Cantrell.
