Pulaski deputies suspended for use of force in arrest

Mara Leveritt reports on her website that two Pulaski deputies received unpaid suspensions — five days in one case, two in another — for rough handling of an alleged drug suspect outside a convenience store May 14. Store security video helped in the investigation.

The deputies — Joseph Breaux and Adam Robertson — beat and kicked Martin McClain, 42, of Jacksonville.

The deputies accuse McClain of being a drug dealer. He was charged with possession of drugs with intent to distribute based on a small packet that deputies said he tossed away as they moved to arrest him. He contends he had no drugs. The deputies also charged McClain with resisting arrest and battery on a law officer.
