On 8-4-14 our agency was notified by Saline County that one of our K-9 officers was able to escape his pin, jump the six foot privacy fence, go across the street and bite two neighbors. At least one of the victims was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital for his injuries. The K-9 bite is being treated as a vicious dog bite by Saline County. The K-9 is at home but cannot report to work for 10 days under Saline County vicious dog ordinance.
The K-9 handler [Jason Harris, according to Saline County authorities] was not at home at the time of the incident. Emergency personnel responded to the residence where they located the K-9 in his driveway.
The K-9, Ammo, has been with the department at least three years. His breed is Dutch Shepard.
