COP NO MORE: Dan Sutterfield.
Remember the Bull Shoals police chief
who invaded a home without a warrant in response to a domestic violence complaint and, according to another law enforcement witness, brutalized the man inside with a Taser and other rough handling? A Harrison jury acquitted him of two federal charges
in the case, but hung on the excessive force charge.
The Baxter Bulletin reports today
that the feds have agreed not to prosecute the chief, Daniel Sutterfield
, again in return for his resignation from the job and a promise never to work in law enforcement again. The charge is dismissed without prejudice, meaning it could be refiled if Sutterfield breaks the agreement.
It's not like Bull Shoals will be losing much. Sutterfield has been out on workers comp since the incident in July 2013, the Bulletin noted.
