Curry didn’t attend the meeting, but his resignation offer was announced after a 90-minute closed session of the School Board. CORRECTION: The original version of this article has been edited to accurately report that Curry has offered his resignation but the School Board has not yet acted on the offer.

Curry, 42, was arrested about 10:30 p.m. July 24 in Euless, Texas. Officers said they saw his Chevy pickup hit a curb twice before stopping him. The truck was owned by the school district and his contract allowed its personal use. He refused a breath test after the stop. He told officers he’d had two drinks that night.

Last night’s meeting drew many parents who wanted Curry’s ouster. Board President Sherry Eisenhauer said the situation was unfortunates but also spoke highly of Curry’s work.

Sherry Ellison said, “I do not see how the community or the Jessieville staff can gain back enough respect for him to be able to be in a good working environment and a good environment for our children.”

Eisenhauer said, “I think it would be a wonderful thing if we as a community took all that energy and instead worked for our kids instead of hurting each other.”
