Little Rock lawyer Jack Wagoner informed me earlier of this editorial comment — a dead rat over his photo — on our cover story about him placed on a parking lot beside his car. He reported it to the police.

If it was a friend’s idea of sick humor — my best hope — that person hasn’t come forward. If a stalker is responsible, Jack’s report to police was worth the time.

Profane and threatening remarks aren’t unheard of here. A frequent abusive caller just checked in this week with one of his customary rants. I’d thought I might not satisfy the messenger with more publicity. But Jack posted something about it on his Facebook page and it’s since been picked up by Jim Romenesko, the media blogger.

It’s creepy at a minimum. Perhaps terroristic threatening. It won’t deter Jack in his work on marriage equality or us.
