I got two reports last night of robocalls urging calls to Little Rock City Board members to vote Tuesday night against the proposal for a MAPCO gas station at the dangerous Third and Broadway intersection, near the heart of the city/county government and convention district. (Would you put a 24-hour beer-and-Slim Jim outlet at 1400 Pennsylvania Avenue? Some city directors would.)
Both the reports I got were from people who didn’t hear the source of the call, if it was identified.
Anybody else?
Normally, it’s the special interest (MAPCO and Dickson Flake) at work on efforts like this. Happy to see somebody working in the public interest. (Of course it could be a convenience store competitor, which should also put the lie to the notion that the area is “undersered” by 22-ounce Busch and gas outlets.)
