The Wall Street Journal says
Arkansas-based Tyson Foods
paid almost $1 billion more than Pilgrim's Pride offered to buy the meat producer Hillshire Brands, whose products include Jimmy Dean Sausage. Tyson reportedly offered $63 a share, or almost $7.7 billion. They're calling it the biggest meat deal ever. The prize is packaged goods like sausage and hot dogs, said to be more profitable than raw meat.
