Powerful storms hit Northeast Arkansas today. They took down trees and power lines and caused other damage in numerous places. Lots of pictures from the region on KAIT-8's Twitter feed. They show storm efffects in Jonesboro, Paragould, Lepanto and Trumann, among others.

UPDATE: KAIT is reporting one storm-related death, in Black Rock. A driver who'd pulled off the road because of heavy rain was crushed by a falling tree. And winds damaged small planes at the Jonesboro airport, overturned a truck rig, tore off roofs and did other damage. Also, KARK reports a man in Jonesboro was killed by a felled tree.

ASU closed early for the day, as did other schools and institutions and photos continued to roll in of damage across a broad part of the region from high winds.
