Police say a 50-year-old Little Rock police officer fatally wounded Juvon Allen, 21, after Allen tried to rob him in the 2300 block of Rebsamen Park Road about 11:30 p.m. Sunday. The officer’s name has not been released.
The officer said he was loading his bike on the back of a vehicle when man came from behind and pointed a gun at his head. The officer said he swung and hit the man in the face, then pulled a weapon out of his pocket and fired at the men, who fled south in a parking lot of a nearby apartment complex in the Riverdale area. He also turned and fired back at the officer, according to the report.
The shot from the suspect hit the window of a parked vehicle. Another witness saw the man later identified as Allen jump into a green Honda and it drove away south on Rebsamen. A similar car was found at the St. Vincent Infirmary emergency room, where officers found Allen. He died from three gunshot wounds to the chest. Police took into custody the driver of the Honda — Torrance Deadmon, 24 — and say they also found a weapon he’d been seen throwing under a truck in the hospital parking lot.
