The line is open. I have little to add except that, tomorrow, the main focus of news in the developing same-sex marriage story is in Pulaski County, where marriage licenses will be issued until and unless a court stays Judge Chris Piazza's order last week. As I wrote Saturday,
after sitting in on a discussion by county clerks, it's doubtful any county in Arkansas will issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples except the six that are named defendants in the case before Piazza.
There's a tiny wrinkle of interest, though. Perry County was not a defendant, so it could fall back on the not-covered argument of the other counties. But …. it is part of Judge Piazza's judicial district.
Prediction at this moment: Judge Piazza won't issue a stay. The Arkansas Supreme Court will. In the interim, anywhere from one to 3 three days, a few more people will drink from the refreshing well of equality.
