Daniel Sutterfield, the Bull Shoals police chief, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Harrison for kicking, stomping and tasing a resident in an arrest. He also allegedly struck the resident with the butt of a shotgun while the suspect was handcuffed.

U.S. Attorney Conner Eldridge said Sutterfield was charged with one count of deprivation of rights for using excessive force, a crime that carries a maximum penalty of 10 years.

Sutterfield was arrested earlier in April. The alleged abuse occurred when Sutterfield responded to a domestic abuse call at the home of Nicholas Dore last July. Earlier accounts said Sutterfield used a stun gun on Dore several times after he’d been subdued and was unable to get up.
