HOMES FOR TORNADO VICTIMS: Tim Griffin suggests Mayflower subdivision, emptied by oil spill, for temporary housing.
KARK reports on
a proposal by U.S. Rep. Tim Griffin
to provide homes in the Mayflower neighborhood trashed by its Pegasus pipeline
rupture to make empty homes it has purchased available for housing for nearby victims of the recent tornado.
Does that mean Griffin is confident Exxon has sufficiently cleaned up the spill to make occupancy of those homes safe? The report doesn't address that specifically, though it would seem a safe assumption. The report also says yet to be determined is the question of payments. For example, could the federal government be asked to pay Exxon to use homes ruined for their inhabitants by its ruptured pipeline?
