The midweek line is open. In closing:
SOMETHING'S MISSING: In this Koch-sponsored TV ad.
* HOW LOW CAN THE KOCHS GO? Americans for Prosperity,
the Koch-funded political lobby that is spending millions to win Republican control of Congress and state legislatures around the country (the ones they don't already own) has aired a TV ad blasting Colorado
Sen. Mark Udall for his support of Obamacare. It uses a photo of Udall and President Obama with troubled looks.
Photoshopped out of the picture were the Colorado governor and a surrounding hospital. AFP made use of a 2012 photo taken on the somber occasion of a hospital visit to victims of the mass shooting in Aurora. AFP reportedly has said it will substitute the image in its $280,000 ad buy.Several Aurora victim family members issued a statement through a PR firm:
The use of an image taken from the President's visit to Colorado to meet with us after our children were killed in the Aurora Theater shooting is an utter disgrace. And to insinuate the somber expressions were for anything other than their compassionate response to our heartbreak is beyond unconscionable. Americans for Prosperity is exploiting our tragedy for political gain and this ad should be pulled from the air immediately. We hope Colorado television stations will exercise sound judgment and not air this ad until AFP removes the image.
It will get worse before the Kochs are done, especially if their unprecedented legislature rent-to-own plan succeeds.
