Pryor likely to join in filibuster of federal minimum wage bill

The National Journal reports that Sen. Tom Harkin, the lead sponsor of bill to raise the federal minimum wage to $10.10, predicts that nearly every Democrat will vote for cloture in the Senate. The one exception? Sen. Mark Pryor, who has come out against the bill (Pryor does support an effort to raise the minimum wage in Arkansas from $6.25 to $8.50).

The federal minimum wage hike needs 60 votes to override a filibuster, after which it could be passed out of the Senate with a simple majority. The bill is likely doomed, with or without Pryor. The bill would need at least five Republicans to stop the filibuster in the Senate. Not happening, and it would be dead on arrival in the Republican-controlled House in any case.
