A stabbing incident inside a White County convenience store ended with a local police officer shooting the suspect. Special Agents of the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division have been requested by local authorities to investigate both incidents.
At approximately 10 AM a man and woman believed to be traveling together entered the business located at 119 U.S. Highway 167 in Bald Knob. While inside the store the woman allegedly stabbed the man who then made his way to the front of the store seeking assistance.
A local police officer arriving on the scene confronted the suspect who was still armed and ordered her to drop the weapon. The woman allegedly advanced toward the officer who shot then shot the suspect.
Both victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment of their respective wounds.
The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division will prepare an investigative file to be presented to the White County Prosecuting Attorney to determine whether the local officer used deadly force consistent with Arkansas law.
Identification processing of the two wounded individuals is still underway.
Questions relating to the identity of the police officer and current administrative status of the officer should be directed to the local police department.
