Republican U.S. Rep. Tim Griffin reports a $200,000 haul in his first campaign finance report as a candidate for lieutenant governor. Who'd want to pour money into an office that is so pointless that it is, by bipartisan agreement, not even being filled in calendar 2014?

Here's the Griffin report. Right at the top of Griffin's report I note $12,000 from oil industry contributions and many thousands more in oil industry sources speckle the succeeding entries. Not too surprising from the Keystone XL pipeline cheerleader. Stephens, Murphy, Rockefeller and Mountaire poultry fortune sources also poured in maximum-contribution $2,000 chunks, much more efficient than $100 contributions.

Griffin faces Andy Mayberry and Debra Hobbs in the Republican primary. John Burkhalter is the Democratic nominee.
