Great story here on a poster child
FACTS 'CAN'T BE TRUE': Julie Boonstra won't accept Obamacare has helped her, though facts say otherwise.
for the notion that Obamacare
is a bad deal. It's the famous Julie Boonstra,
rolled out repeatedly by the Koch-backed Americans for Prosperity.
Faced with overwhelming proof that Obamacare has given her better coverage for less money, Boonstra has the perfect squelch:
When advised of the details of her Blues’ plan, Boonstra said the idea that it would be cheaper “can’t be true.”
“I personally do not believe that,” Boonstra said.
Facts don't matter to the Kochheads. It's enough to believe you are right. And to, as with Rep. Josh Miller, attack the messengers when they start inquiring into inconvenient facts.
But Boonstra’s story is also the one in which the right decided en masse that misleading ACA attack ads shouldn’t be fact-checked at all because … it’s not nice. Boonstra is a private citizen facing a life-threatening ailment, so conservatives said her claims, deceptive or not, should be off limits to scrutiny.
