Little Rock police officers this morning shot a man suspected of the robbery of the Mapco Max Mart at 8101 Stagecoach Road. He was in critical condition at Baptist Medical Center.

A police release said a man with a gun robbed the store about 2:40 a.m. and fled into woods with cash and beer. Police officers tracked the suspect with a police dog and found him in hiding with a gun. Officers released the dog twice, but the suspect retained his gun and pointed it at officers, the release said. One officer fired, striking the suspect multiple times. A loaded handgun and cash were found on the suspect.

No names of the suspect or officers have been released. The officer who fired the shot has been placed on administrative leave as is customary.
