Today, judicial candidate Cathi Compton announced her plans to file for the 3rd Division Circuit Court, a position currently held by Judge Jay Moody. Judge Moody was nominated by President Barack Obama to serve as U.S. district judge for the Eastern District of Arkansas. The Senate Judiciary Committee recently approved Moody’s nomination and he now awaits a final vote before the U.S. Senate.
“It appears Judge Jay Moody is on track for confirmation by the U.S Senate,” said Compton. “With the filing deadline fast approaching, the 3rd Division Circuit Court must have a qualified and experienced candidate to run for this open position. Therefore, I intend to file for the 3rd Division Circuit Court.”
Last spring, Compton announced for the 13th Division Circuit Court which is to be vacant due to the retirement of Judge Collins Kilgore. The 3rd Division Circuit Court covers a large portion of Pulaski County and all of Perry County.
The candidate filing period runs from February 24 to March 3.
