Republican candidate shuffle in race for lieutenant governor

Some movement at the lower reaches of Republican political candidacies.

KFSM//KXNW reports that Rep. Debra Hobbs will drop out of the GOP primary race today for governor and run instead for lieutenant governor. Additionally, the station says Rep. Charlie Collins will drop out of the lt. gov. race because of U.S. Rep. Tim Griffin's expected entry tomorrow. And, the TV station says, it expects another Republican in the lt. gov. race, Craig Miller of Newton County. Never have so many cared so much about so little. Rep. Andy Mayberry is still in the GOP race to pick a nominee to oppose Democrat John Burkhalter.

If you're counting, developments would leave the Republican gubernatorial primary race to oppose Democrat Mike Ross between Curtis Coleman and Asa Hutchinson. Had to smile at KATV's report last night. Coleman was quoted about how GOP ads attacking Ross were a sign of weakness of their presumed front-runner Hutchinson.
