Today former LRPD Det. Charles Weaver turned himself in after being accused of stealing money from the LRPD property room.

According to an incident report released by the Police Department, receipts in the police property room indicated cash had been returned Feb. 19, 2013 to three people from whom it had been taken. It was later determined that the signatures on two recents had been forged and that the money had not been returned to rightful owners. Weaver, 44, lists a home in Greenbrier. The amount taken was not reported. Weaver, who worked in narcotics, resigned in September, KTHV reported.

Also in police news today:

* EYE LOST IN ROBBERY: A 32-year-old woman who was robbed  outside the West End Tavern at 215 N. Shackleford Road early Sunday was reportedly injured so severely that she lost an eye. Two Bryant women were leaving the bar when two men approached and asked if the women wanted a ride. After they declined, one of the men assaulted one woman and stole her phone. She was punched so hard it deflated her eyeball and caused its loss, the report said. The report indicated they might have a potential name for one suspect.
