Senate Judiciary again approves Arkansas judicial nominees

Carl Tobias, a Richmond law professor who tracks the federal judiciary, alerts me to news that the Senate Judiciary Committe has re-approved a batch of President Obama's judicial nominees, including Timothy Brooks of Fayetteville and Circuit Judge Jay Moody of Little Rock.

Both potential federal district judges were in a group approved by a voice vote. The nominations had to be considered again because the Senate adjourned last year without taking action on nominees awaiting confirmation votes.

Votes were split on several of 29 held-over nominees, with particular division on some appellate nominees, but the Democratic majority gave approval to all.

I asked Tobias for a prediction on confirmation votes. He said:

My best estimate is February for Brooks and April for Moody, working from the date of nomination, the slow pace of floor votes and the holidays like next week.
