Two Mississippi fugitives were taken into custody this afternoon (December 28th) by Arkansas State Troopers and a U.S. Marshal.
Cody A. Eggemeyer, 26, and Michael D. Manis, 33, were arrested without incident about 3:15 PM outside the Crown Inn at 306 North Main Street, Brinkley.
Both men are wanted in connection with a crime spree that began Christmas Day and continued into the next day involving crimes of kidnapping, home invasion, robbery and gunfire directed at police officers in Sardis and Batesville, Mississippi. The two are also suspected of an armed robbery in West Helena, Arkansas on December 26th.
The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is continuing to work with Mississippi and federal authorities in an investigation involving both Eggemeyer and Manis.
Along with interviewing people as varied as Nelson and Mitt Romney, “The Mike Huckabee Show” also provided the former governor with what he called “the most awkward, uncomfortable conversation I think I’ve probably ever had.” His producer, who he noted “didn’t last very long with the show and maybe this was why,” had booked the guest and Huckabee found himself unprepared for the content.
“It was a woman who got fired because she said that her boss thought that her breasts were too big. And I’m not making this up,” Huckabee recalled. “So I’m sitting there having to interview this woman about her boss thought her breasts were too big. I’ve had conversations with a lot of people, public and private, but this is just not one I want to have on a national radio show. It was bizarre. It was absolutely the most awkward, uncomfortable conversation I think I’ve probably ever had.”
