WATCH OUT: For Sen. Dismang.
Governing magazine has included Republican Sen. Jonathan Dismang
on its list of 12 state legislators to watch in 2014. It says:
Dismang, the president pro tem of the Arkansas Senate, was elected in 2010 after serving in the House for a term. He was a key player in the creation of the “private option”—an innovative compromise that enabled the expansion of Medicaid under Obamacare in a solidly red state that has a Democratic governor and a Republican legislature. He’s a possible contender for a U.S. House seat in 2014.
Unless I recall incorrectly, I thought Dismang was likely to stick with the higher impact job of leading the state Senate. French Hill, Ann Clemmer and Conrad Reynolds have announced as Republican candidates for the seat. Patrick Henry Hays has announced as a Democrat.
PS — He confirms my recollection.
