FOR BUDGET DEAL: Mark Pryor.
  • FOR BUDGET DEAL: Mark Pryor.
By a 67-33 vote, the Senate today easily defeated a filibuster against the budget deal. The bipartisan deal  should  get  final  approval this  week.

U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor, significantly, voted for the measure. CORRECTION: Sen. John Boozman, a Republican from Arkansas, voted no, or to extend debate.

Said Pryor:

Arkansans want us to work together to get things done and keep our economy growing. This budget agreement isn't perfect, but it's a positive step forward. It gives businesses the certainty they need to invest, expand, and create jobs while preventing the “my-way-or-the-highway” politics of an irresponsible few from shutting down our government and hurting our economy. This bipartisan, bicameral agreement also restores the resources we need to protect our national security interests without implementing tax hikes that would harm our economy. But even better, like Speaker Boehner says, it does all this while reducing our deficit.

You'll recall that U.S. Rep. Tom Cotton, who'll oppose Pryor next year, was among the band of House extremists who opposed the deal crafted by Paul Ryan, nobody's idea of a free-spending liberal. Not enough pain for po' folks to suit Tom Cotton.
