Trifling with Santa Claus
didn't sit well with some parents in Magnolia, the Magnolia Banner-News reports.
The Magnolia High School
Christmas program included a play, "Gangsta Claus,
" a short farce by Don Zoldis
that depicts the slaying of Santa in an inner city convenience store.
Parents didn't like the play, whether because of what befalls Santa or the depiction of multiple acts of gun violence. An administration spokeswoman was apologetic:
“Concern has been expressed about the content of a skit performed at the Magnolia High School Red and White Christmas program on Wednesday, December 11," Crank said. "The administration recognizes that inappropriate content was included and deeply regrets this incident. Processes are being put in place to prevent any future occurrences of this nature.”
More here from the Magnolia Reporter,
which apparently initiated putting a parent's complaint before school officials. The Reporter backgrounds the popularity of Zoldis plays among school students. The parent was not amused, providing this description to the Reporter:
"It had one character pull out a pretend handgun, shot Santa once then Santa fell on the ground and shot him again. Then he shot a Walmart clerk then Rudy the reindeer pulled out a rifle, shot the man who shot Santa, then Rudy got shot by the first actor’s wife!”
About like your average video game.
Now if the play had depicted Santa as black they REALLY would have been in trouble in Magnolia. Fox News probably would have arrived on the scene. See at top Jon Stewart's takedown of Fox for a recent new battlefront in Fox's war on the maginary war on Christmas — now extended to racial purity requirements for Jesus and Santa.
PS — Megyn Kelly says she was just joking
about white Santa and stuff. It's her critics who are the reverse racists. Of course.
