The Republican controlled Legislative Audit committee apparently mustered little of its usual sanctimony over the expected confirmation that Lt. Gov. Mark Darr,
the father of the state checkbook, had abused taxpayers with improper spending of taxpayer money
Sen. Paul Bookout
properly resigned for a lesser statutory offense — personal use of campaign money
Darr should do the same. And a prosecutor should begin precisely the review Bookout is under.
Where now is Republican outrage at official misconduct? Restitution is no cure. Not for Bookout. Not for Darr .
PS — I am in an airport heading back to work tomorrow but the silence of the lions turned lambs at Audit couldn't be ignored.
