This one slipped by us in the turkey-coma stupor last week, but it's too funny not to mention: police in Jonesboro say that a used car dealer who was allegedly talking to a hit man about murdering a former employee let the target in on the plot after accidentally dialing  the man on his cell phone.

KAIT news reports that Larry Barnett, 68, who owns a car dealership in Jonesboro, was arrested after allegedly discussing the hit with an unidentified man while the former employee secretly listened in. The probable cause affidavit in the case says that the former employee, who lives in Paragould, overheard Barnett giving out his name and address before allegedly saying that he wanted it to look like an accident and adding "I don't care if you have to burn his house to the ground with him in it." The affidavit says that when asked for a motive, Barnett reportedly told the man: "I owe the little son of a bitch a bunch of money and if he's gone, I don't have to pay for it." When the apparent target went to the police station to file a report, he returned home to find that his home had been burglarized and his gas stove sabotaged.

Barnett is also in trouble for, police say, a scheme in which investigators say he used fraudulent automobile identification numbers to receive bank loans.
