The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department says a traffic stop on I-30 for speeding  and a defective license plate light early yesterday morning turned into a sizeable marijuana bust after a search of the car found 116.8 pounds of pot in the trunk

According to a police report in the case, Deputy Adam Baker stopped the car, a silver 2008 Cadillac, on Sunday morning at 3:49 a.m. for speeding and a blinking license plate light. At the time of the stop, the car was heading east on I-30 near 65th Street in Little Rock.

Approaching the car, the report says, Baker noticed six air fresheners on the car’s rear view mirror, along with a Texas license plate laying on the dash. The driver, identified as Rashad James, 24, of Missouri City, Tex., told Baker that he was travelling to Memphis. After asking for consent to search the vehicle and being given consent to search, the report says, Baker popped the trunk and found four cardboard boxes containing marijuana.

James was arrested and taken to the narcotics division for questioning. James was later charged with possession of a controlled substance in excess of  100 pounds and possession of drug paraphernalia.
