ON THE ROAD IN NWA: A simple bumper sticker won't do when it comes to Obamacare in the Fayetteville-Bentonville corridor.

Three down, two to go. The line is open. Finishing up.

* COUNTY JUDGE CANDIDATE: As expected, former state Rep. Barry Hyde of North Little Rock has announced for Pulaski county judge. The 57-year-old construction company CEO will formally announced Nov. 19, his news release said. On that general topic: This morning, in a talk at Life Quest, I had occasion to look back with some appreciation on the long tenure of the amiable, patient County Judge Buddy Villines, who isn't running again. His skills will be missed. He wrangled the Quorum Court to some good results. I'd rather herd cats.

* WRITER WILLIAM HARRISON DIES: I forgot to link this earlier from Rock Candy. William Harrison died Tuesday in Fayetteville a week shy of his 80th birthday.  A novelist and short story writer, he co-founded the creative writing program at the University of Arkansas.

* BEGATHON FOR KUAR THIS FRIDAY: Rosi Smith and I will be doing our semi-annnual stint begging for contributions to KUAR/KLRE at 6:30 a.m. Friday on the local public radio station. Blog match program continues to apply. I match $10 of every contribution/pledge that mentions the blog. I'll issue a reminder. 569-8485. Or, on the web, at kuar.org.

* ANOTHER ICYMI: On the off chance you don't see our plugs at the top of the page to stories of interest elsewhere, be sure to check out Eat Arkansas's report on an idea for a new reality TV show starring chef Donnie Ferneau. Whatever the truth of that TV show pitch, with all manner of dramatic characters and hot babes, Ferneau IS planning a downtown venture, as mentioned in our earlier item on the tumbling bricks at 315 Main.

* REGNAT POPULUS LOSES ANOTHER ROUND: Attorney General Dustin McDaniel has again rejected a proposal by the Regnat Populus good government group to limit corporate political campaign spending. He cites deficiencies in the text and ballot title.
