I'd mentioned earlier that Ben Cohen
, co-founder of Ben and Jerry's ice cream
, would speak at the Clinton School at noon next Tuesday.
He's also helping an event on Facebook
as part of his Stamp Stampede campaign.
He's partnering with Regnat Populus, the local good govenrment group, that is working on a amendment to prohibit corporate spending in political campaigns and to promote a constitutional amendment to overturn the Citizens United ruling that gave personhood to corporations for purposes of influencing political campaigns.
Cohen's campaign is simple. Pass appropriate slogans on a dollar bill and pass it along.
Example: "Not to be used for bribing politicians."
After his talk, Cohen will be at the River Market pavilion from 2:30 to 4, stamping dollar bills. The first 75 people there get free ice cream.
