WANTS ALCOHOL PERMIT: Regal Cinema in McCain Mall.

A report here from Stephens Media on plans by the Regal Cinema McCain Mall Stadium 12 to appeal the state Alcoholic Beverage Control director's denial of an alcohol sales permit. The North Little Rock police chief had objected, citing, among others, a difficulty in enforcement in the darkened theater that was greater than that in, for example, the Verizon Arena. Audiences include many underage, he said.

The appeal will be heard by the ABC Board next week, Oct. 16.

Two art house cinemas in Arkansas — Market Street in Little Rock and the Movie Lounge in Fort Smith — have alcohol permits, but no mainline theaters. Customers would be required to have a wristband and be limited to three drinks.
