I'm in Fayetteville this morning. The town's full already of fans excited about this evening's Razorback game with Texas A&M.

I thought I'd go to Herman's last night for old times' sakes. Approximately eleventy thousand old heads had the same idea. We moved on down the road.

I was on Twitter last night when Bret Bielema, the Hog coach, sent word that quarterback Brandon Allen had been cleared to play today.

Funny. The indication all week was that Allen wasn't practicing because he was still hampered by a shoulder injury. Now, the official word is that he WAS practicing. All week. Hog prep is accorded security worthy of a nuclear weapons program. Practices are closed to prying eyes of reporters so no independent confirmation of events exist. Secrecy is apparently so tight that coaches, players, janitors, students and players' roommates also  can't be cultivated to tip a reporter who possesses a telephone to something as momentous as the return of the first-team QB for the opening of SEC play against a team led by a Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback.

Fans are probably OK with this secrecy, just as the faithful rarely  make a peep about the secretive Razorback Foundation, funded with their priority seat dollars, or the University of Arkansas Foundation, which launders advancement division spending outside the public's view. See, the Aggies prepared all week for the wrong quarterback. Maybe.

Woo pig.
