Senate candidate in Jonesboro fined $21,000 by Securities Department

KAIT reports here on a $21,000 fine assessed by the state Securities Department against Republican state Senate candidate Chad Niell, who's apparently spending a considerable personal sum to win the nomination to succeed Paul Bookout.

Niell got some attention here earlier for a decided lack of personal and campaign consultant style points in the form of a note to an opponent and Twitter comments.

Blue Hog Report deserves another hat tip for initial reporting on Niell's failure to properly license his business, which profits from handling prisoner financial transactions for commissary purchases. He enjoys a little gloating, having been ripped by Niell's campaign consultant, Keith Emis, for raising a supposed non-issue. That non-issue has now cost Niell $21,000.
