NPR reports this morning
on the Republican push to cut $40 billion from the federal food stamp program. Republican Rep. Tom Cotton
is featured prominently with his largely unsupported claim of rampant fraud and abuse in the program.
For contrast to the mythology of lobster-eating welfare queens, NPR interviewed a 22-year-old man in Little Rock. He's been through two brain surgeries. He's applied repeatedly for jobs. His $82 in monthly benefits is on the line because he's a young man able to work.
And if there are no jobs, what would Tom Cotton have him do?
Starve, is what.
