LRFD battles two simultaneous house fires in Hillcrest, Heights

The Little Rock Fire Department had their hands full this morning with two house fires that happened almost simultaneously in Hillcrest and the Heights.

The first fire, at a home on Lenon Place in the Heights, was called in at 6:15 a.m.  While crews were responding to that blaze, emergency services got a call about another house fire in the 1100 block of North Jackson Street in Hillcrest. Both fires are now apparently out.

Fire crews had Kavanaugh blocked near Lenon Place until around 7:20 a.m. No word yet on what caused the two fires. We've got a call in to the LRFD, and will update when we know more.

UPDATE: Captain Edwin Woolf with the Little Rock fire Department called back to say that both of this morning's fires were small and contained, with one causing less than $5,000 in damage, and the other causing less than $3,000. He said that all residents of both homes were able to get out unharmed.
