CNN reports that Pine Bluff police
shot and killed a 107-year-old man
after SWAT officers failed to negotiate a surrender.
The police said the man, Monroe Isadore,
fired at them through a door. They were at the home because of reports that two people there had been assaulted.
Officers slipped a camera into the room and saw Isadore had a handgun. When officers came through a window, Isadore fired at them, the police said. When they threw a distraction device, Isadore fired again, according to the report. Officers then returned the fire, killing Isadore with multiple wounds. No police were struck.
The fatal shooting happened around 7 p.m. at 1411 W 16th Avenue. The confrontation began about 4:25 p.m..
