The attorney general's office said today that two former Perry County nursing home employee
s had been charged with felonies for using residents' personal funds to buy clothes, jewelry and makeup for themselves.
Charged were Jewel Darlene English
, 48, former administrator of the Perry County Nursing and Rehabilitation
, and Sharla Renea Christie,
35, former office manager. Both live in Perryville.
The Medicaid Fraud Unit developed a case that the women stole more than $4,600 from trust accounts — English from eight residents and Christie from four. English faces six felony and two misdemeanor counts; Christie three felonies and one misdemeanor. They allegedly wrote checks from the accounts and signed them, then used cash for purchases at Dillard's, Merle Norman and The Buckle.
