a Little Rock public relations consultant, announced today that he'd run as a Democrat to succeed term-limited state Rep. John Edwards
for the district covering parts of Little Rock and out to Roland. He's the first to announce, but others are expected.
The name should be familiar. His father, the late Jodie Mahony, was an El Dorado lawyer who served 32 years in the House and Senate before term limits ended his elected service. He spent his last years working on education issues with the House staff.
From the release:
“At a young age, my family taught me that service to others should be an important part of my life. As a result I've spent the last few years working for several non-profit organizations. During that time I've had the opportunity to form relationships with many members of the House and the Senate as well as various state agencies that I used to benefit the people of Arkansas. I believe my experience and my work ethic gives me the necessary skills to provide a positive influence and productivity as a representative for the people of my district.”
Mahony works as a Pubic Relations Consultant for non profit organizations. His clients include AEDD, the Allen School, Cerebral Palsy and Easter Seals. He received a BA in Communications from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock after graduating from Catholic High. He is a member of the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranch, the Catholic High Alumni Association and on the Board of the Wolfe Street Foundation. An avid sportsman Mahony is also a member of the Audubon Society and the Nature Conservancy.
Mahony is the son of Sherry Bartley and the late Jodie Mahony. He has 3 adult children Jordan, Alex and Jodie IV.
