The State Police reports it has a suspect in the case of a man who escaped state park rangers at Pinnacle Mountain State Park yesterday after they tried to stop three people breaking into cars. He sought hospital treatment. There was some thought originally that he might have been wounded by officer gunfire, but it's unclear at the moment if the injury is from a gunshot or vehicle accident. The release:

Special Agents of the Arkansas State Police are continuing to investigate the officer involved shooting that occurred yesterday (Tuesday, August 21st) at Pinnacle Mountain State Park.

Mark Anthony Wyrick, 52, of North Little Rock, who checked himself into a local hospital last night, has been identified as the suspect who fled the park following the shooting incident. Wyrick is presently hospitalized and will be taken into custody by State Police upon being released by doctors.

John Nutt, 46, of Little Rock and Martinaze Ingram, (DOB unavailable at this time) of Little Rock, are being held by State Police.

Upon completion of the investigation, a case file will be submitted to the prosecuting attorney for consideration of any charges.

Officers on a stakeout said they interrupted a car burglary and one officer was struck a glancing blow as one of the suspects tried to drive away. The officer fired a shot. The driver got out and ran and apparently later stole a park truck to get away. Two men were arrested at the scene.
