SWAT deployment ends uneventfully

A report from the Little Rock Police Department about deployment of its SWAT unit this morning.

This morning just before 6 am officers were called to 2401 W. 65th Street to assist Arkansas State Police with the recovery of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Little Rock on 7/23/13. A State Trooper was in the parking lot looking for stolen vehicle when he noticed 2002 Nissan Sentra leave the parking lot. That vehicle was reported stolen out of this department and was flagged as being occupied by two Hispanic males. The trooper noticed only one Hispanic male in the car at that time. The driver of the suspect vehicle was taken into custody and determined to be Juan Hernandez-Tonteras 11-25-78.

Due to the fact the vehicle was flagged as possibly being driven by two Hispanic males and the fact Mr. Hernandez-Tonteras was in possession of a room key for the hotel, officers went to the hotel room and learned there was someone else inside the room who refused to come out. A SWAT call was initiated. The second Hispanic male was not located however a Hispanic female was and did exit the room on her own will. The female will not be charged with anything at this time. Mr. Hernandez-Tonteras will be charged with Theft by Receiving.
