I’d noticed some Tweets this morning from George Hopkins at Teacher Retirement, who spied bald eagles flying around the agency’s building at Third and Victory.

Then along came Justin Nickels, who snapped the photo above of one of the eagles in a tree behind the ironworkers union hall at 2nd and Victory. Justin said a Game and Fish Commission biologist was coming out to take a look because one of the birds appeared ill.

Or is it an eagle? Nickels reports further that Game and Fish believes the bird in question is a Mississippi kite.

UPDATE FOR THE LOOKYLOOS: The eagle has flown the coop.
