Turnover at lieutenant governor's office: Nothing to see here

Several people wrote to inquire about multiple staff changes at Lt. Gov. Mark Darr's office. Bruce Campbell, his chief of staff, got back to me today on the details and explains it as just the usual fact of business life — people change jobs.

Amber Pool has succeeded Sara Beth Lowe as communications director at the same $55,00 salary. Lowe left for the private sector, he said. Pool, who'd been administrative assistant to Darr earlier, but left last fall (and was replaced by Rae Ann Gardner) to work in a family business, was hired back into the office for this opening.

Chris Powell, who handled governmental affairs, took a job with the secretary of state and Josh Curtis, a Saline County Republican justice of the peace has replaced him at roughly $50,000 a year.

The two changes at the end of June — Lowe and Powell's departures — are just coincidental, Campbell said.
