Is there any doubt the 2014 race for U.S. Senate in Arkansas will be the most expensive ever?
Incumbent Sen. Mark Pryor is already under fire from left and right in big TV buys.
Now comes another independent group with the ad above attacking U.S. Rep. Tom Cotton, the Club for Growth's extremist ambassador to the 4th District of Arkansas.
Patriot Majority USA, a Democratically aligned group, is hitting the freshman congressman for hungrily seeking TV time and forgetting about Arkansas. I'm surprised more wasn't said about the specifics of Cotton's extremist record — against disaster aid for some locales; against the farm bill and particularly against nutrition support for children; blaming the terror bombing in Boston on Barack Obama; presuming guilt on the basis of blood relationship, and other extremist viewpoints, particularly his hunger for military intervention abroad.
Tom Cotton: Too extreme for Arkansas.
Sounds like a slogan.
BTW: Republicans naturally say this ad shows Pryor is desperate. It also illustrates the old Clinton political maxim: Leave nothing unanswered. Best defense is offense.
