Republicans remain hellbent to dismantle Obamacare. Can they do it before the obvious benefits pile so high that, like Medicare, people forget what the fight was all about? Some examples already in place:
Insurance for pre-existing conditions.
Insurance for older kids.
Expanded health coverage for poor people.
Limits on profiteering by insurance companies.
About that last, Politico notes that insurance companies are going to have to pay $500 million in rebates as the law requires for failing to meet the law requirement that 80 cents of very premium dollar go to medical care.
Real dollars will come home to real Arkansans. The Republicans of Arkansas think this is a bad thing, right? Otherwise, why would they be running again in 2014 on overturning the hated Obamacare?
The breakdown on the $3.5 million in refund checks coming to 121,000 Arkansans:
Individual market- 10,381 will get a rebate on average at $199/family
Small Group market- 88,078 will get a rebate on average at $28/family
Large Group market- 22,766 will get a rebate on average of $74/family
